Today, digital is very much associated with TVs, phones, and other things with screens due to them being run via modern technology. Yes, a lot of these things are digital, but not because of modern technology. The actual difference between something that is digital and something that is analog is the amount of states that an object has. Things that are digital have a limited states it can be in while something that is analogue has an infinite amount of states. For instance, a light switch that simply has an on and off is digital because it has a defined amount of states. A dimmer switch, that has a spectrum of brightness that can be selected from is analogue. Even if something that has an extremely high number of states like billions even trillions, as long as it is a finite number of states, it is digital.
